Make sure all gutters
and downspouts are clean and free of debris as well as in good condition. |

Check all exterior
concrete & masonry for deterioration including chimney caps. |

Check roof for damaged
or loose shingles, also check for blistering. |

Check all flashing,
soffits, fascia and vents for good condition. |
 |
Check and seal off any
through penetrations from the exterior to the interior of the home, such as
electrical service entries and dryer vents. This prevents air and rodents
from entering the home. |

Check & clean out dryer
vents replace plastic hoses with metal flex. Plastic dryer hoses are a
potential fire hazard. |
 |
Caulk, seal and or
weather-strip doors and windows eliminating drafts. |
 |
Paint as needed any
areas with loose or flaking paint and or exposed wood. |
 |
Use caution when using
outside outlets check that they are GFCI protected for your safety. |
 |
Change or clean
furnace/AC air filter monthly. |
 |
Clean all debris from
around exterior cooling units. (Do not operate AC units until the exterior
temperature is maintained above 65 DEG F.) |
 |
Install carbon monoxide
detector's and smoke alarms if they are not existing. |
 |
Test all smoke alarms once a
month to insure proper functionality. |
 |
Inspect the property in
general making sure that all ditches and swells are functioning, preventing
water from traveling to the home. |

Trim all bushes back
that are in contact with the home. |
 |
Remove all water hoses
from outside faucets. |
 |
Turn off water supply to
outside faucets that are not "frost proof". |
